“Lucky” the Leprechaun 2018

“Lucky” the Leprechaun Visits
Thursday & Friday, March 16th & 17th

Around St. Patrick’s Day each year, Lucky the Leprechaun travels from his home in Ireland, or ‘The Emerald Isle,’ all the way to Kinder Works!  He tries to trick us with “upside down antics” and leaves a glittery shamrock trail throughout our school.  We’ll find out if this shimmery path leads to his treasured pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

March 2018 Theme & Calendar

Our March Theme:
Prehistoric Times

We are going to visit ‘the land before time’, and think about what it was like to walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs!  Tyrannosaurus and brontosaurus, pterodactyl and stegosaurus all roamed the earth in a lifetime before us.  What did they eat and how large were they?  It fires up our imaginations!  We can read stories about them, both fiction and fact… and paint or sculpt their likenesses… but we are still not sure about their true nature; we are still studying their remains…

As we become explorers in various prehistoric times, we find clues from fossils to cave paintings.  What plants grew here or there, and how were fossils made?  What animals came after dinosaurs, and what came next?  When primitive man entered prehistory, what stories did he tell?  What did he need to survive?  Where did he live and how did he get his food?

Over millions of years, there is much to discover and learn.  This theme promises to be more than a night at the museum!

We will take 2 days off to pay attention to Lucky the Leprechaun and his wild antics!  And 2 more days for Spring Egg Hunts…

Pajama Days!

Pajama Days
Thursday & Friday, February 22nd & 23rd

Wear your warmest pajamas to school on Thursday and Friday, February 22 and 23!  It’s the end of our “To Infinity and Beyond” theme, so on these two days we’ll have so much fun playing in our pajamas!

Perhaps we’ll enjoy some out-of-this-world movies (Toy Story with Buzz? Or WALL-ELilo & Stitch?); and we can turn off the lights and star-gaze (on the ceiling)… all in our pajamas!  Please keep in mind the weather and layer appropriately if needed.  Also, please leave the slippers at home so that we can play safely at school!

Hurricane Relief Update – Thank You!

Hurricane Relief… because being kinder works.

       Dear Parents,

Thanks to YOUR thoughtfulness and generosity, we collected a total of $4,210.24 and sent water, diapers, wipes, batteries and more to the distressed U.S. V. I. (some areas still don’t have electricity as we write this… which means no running water among other things…)!  It was interesting to witness how difficult it was to get all of the donations delivered!  We were able to piggy-back with a local church that was sending a container to the islands.  They finally got it to port and into the right hands.

THANK YOU from many island people for your help!

February Show & Tell

Preschool/Kindergarten SEL (“EQ”) Show & Tell
Thursday & Friday, February 15th & 16th
“Reach for the Stars!”

Coordinating with our To Infinity and Beyond theme, we’d like to invite our children to consider their own potential by asking each child, “What would you like to be… or do… when you grow up?”  We want to encourage our children to dream big, and aspire to reach for the stars!

Maybe your little one will take inspiration from some of our lessons, and want to write books like Dr. Seuss, or create music like Tchaikovsky, or paint like O’Keefe… or maybe he or she will be influenced by daily interactions with mom, or dad… and become a nurse, a scientist, or a teacher…

Please talk to your child about what he or she would like to be, or do, in the future.  Ask for a picture, write a story, or select some sort of prop to help your child complete the sentence, “When I grow up…”  Our children will reach for the stars as they listen to each other, and share their own dreams.
