Guest Readers

Guest Readers in January!
January 6th through January 29th

As we explore our “Favorite Authors” this month, we are inviting parents (or Grandparents, Aunts, special friends) to read a story to the children during their Language Arts period.  “Guest-readers” can sign up with our Language Arts Specialist, Mrs. Amanda Wilson, or our Director, Mrs. Nicole Stewart.  Please indicate what story you want to bring (so we don’t have repeats), and select your date & time.  Space is limited, and is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Thank you for participating and sharing your love of reading!

January 2020 Theme & Calendar

Our January Theme:
Favorite Authors, Composers, Scientists, Explorers & Artists

This theme is back by popular demand!  Our Specialists and Class Teachers will choose their favorites from among famous writers, poets, scientists, explorers, sculptors, painters and musicians… Their gifts of knowledge, discoveries & creations are the best of mankind.  And now, they can inspire our lesson plans, and our children!  Perhaps we will explore genres of expression or ideas that led to discoveries.  Perhaps we can try our hands at creating our own masterpieces or finding out how something works… our imagination has no limits!

December 2019 Show & Tell

Preschool/Kindergarten December EQ Show & Tell
Thursday & Friday, December 19th & 20th

“My favorite holiday tradition…”

This month, our EQ Show & Tell will focus on favorite family holiday traditions.  This will bring our investigations of “Holidays at Home” full circle as we reflect on our own personal experiences.  This sharing also enhances each child’s self-esteem and affirms individual self-concept.

You and your child can select a special tradition to share with classmates that represents the spirit of the holiday your family celebrates.  Please feel free to send in photos, drawings, or anything else that depicts what makes this time special for your family.

The Giving Tree 2019

The “Giving Tree”
December 2nd – December 13th

The “Giving Tree” is a beautiful holiday tradition that we celebrate at Kinder Works.  Each year we decorate a tree with paper ornaments; each ornament bears the name and age of a local child in need.  Your child can choose one of these ornaments and become a “Secret Santa” for that child.

Visit our “Giving Tree” in the Atrium to choose an ornament with your child.  Please return your gift in a gift bag, with the ornament as its tag, by placing it under the tree on or before December 13th.

Watching your child thoughtfully pick out a gift for a child in need will warm your heart!

December 2019 Theme & Calendar

Our December Theme:
Holidays at Home

At this festive time of year, we are going to create holiday scenery all around Kinder Works!  We will explore multi-cultural celebrations, old and new.  What does your family do at your house?  Care to share a recipe or tradition?  Winter Solstice, Chanukah, and Christmas present us with sweet treats such as candy canes, gift giving, evergreens and candlelight.  Some of our seasonal favorites such as “The Elf on the Shelf” and stories about Frosty and Rudolf will entertain us.

The story of The Giving Tree will come alive, taking center stage in our atrium or gym, as we invite everyone to participate in giving to children less fortunate than ourselves.

Then… watch for Santa to make his appearance!
