Fairy Tales

In the heat of the summer, it’s a great time to rest in the shade, or indoors in the AC, while enjoying a good story or two.  Fairy tales, myths, and legends offer rich sources of life’s experiences along with adventures and EQ lessons.  “Once upon a time…” leads us down the strange and winding path of our own imaginations, where creativity is stored and we can become anything!

Paintings and music can tell a story, as can dramatic play and even Blooming Flowersscience experiments.  (Why did the snowman melt?  And how was the gingerbread boy made?) . “The 3 Bears” gets us into counting and size order, too.  We can pretend to be flying dragons, or enchanted frogs to exercise our bodies as well as flex our points of view.  Fantasy can set us free!

Summer in Our Neighborhood

Summer officially arrived last month, and by now we are involved with all that the season brings to us: 4th of July fireworks, long hot sunny days, thunder storms, summer fruits at family picnics, vacations at the beach, the mature greens of local flora, and people trying to keep cool.

In our neighborhood, community helpers are still busy doing their jobs: the mail gets delivered, the grocery store sells us food, the doctors & nurses help us when we are sick, and somebody is always making pizza and french fries at our favorite restaurants.  Adults are making, baking, building, cleaning, fixing, serving, selling, and teaching all the time, to make our neighborhood work.  Even in the summer!
