Thank you to all who joined us at our fabulous Fall Festival!
We hope you had as much fun as we did!
Our November Theme:
Thanksgiving is a national holiday founded on giving and gratitude. From the very first Thanksgiving, to the one we celebrate this month, one tradition still holds true: sharing the bounty of nature and our kitchens brings people together.
We can develop our EQ skills & abilities by practicing authentic manners, generosity, and thoughtfulness- especially around the dinner table, lunch or snack table. At the same time, we can learn about respecting and nurturing our own growing bodies with healthy but yummy recipes of treats we can make and share.
We can also learn to nurture ourselves and one another by enjoying the fresh outdoors as well as exercising in our gyms, and by feeding our minds and spirits with music, good books, inspiring artwork and new ideas. We are so grateful for these things!

Hurricane Relief… because being kinder works.
Our American neighbors have recently suffered through hurricanes, floods and fires…and help has not always gotten to those in need. That’s why this Fall, instead of our traditional UNICEF collections, we have decided to take action to directly assist the many American families in distress.
We have arranged with a local supply and shipping company (S&S Industrial Equipment & Supply Co. NJ) to piggy-back on their shipments to the Caribbean. The U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico have not gotten aid as readily as our contiguous neighbors, such as Texas, California and Florida….and their circumstances are very bad. They are still without electricity, regular deliveries of food & water, and in many cases, roofs!
We have people on the ground to unload at the port docks and transport supplies to churches that are acting as distribution centers. Those churches are anxious for our donations; not money (which may end up in the wrong pockets), but the actual items needed.
They have made specific requests. Happily, we are able to fill those requests at cost! So….how can your family help?
Just check off an item (or part of a case; any amount) on the PDF below, give your order and payment to a Kinder Works Teacher or Director (please make checks out to Kinder Works)….and S&S has volunteered to pack, shrink-wrap, and load your purchases on pallets ready for shipping. (We will pay the shipping costs at a deep discount.)

“Practicing Self-Calming Skills”
This is the time of year when we focus on our self calming skills… With each night falling earlier, and Halloween decorations like jack-o-lanterns, spiders, and skeletons, it can be a scary time of year for little ones. It’s important to teach self-calming skills so children can reassure themselves amidst all the excitement and change.
A child may find comfort in a stuffed toy or a blanket, in a song or memory or thought. A child may know to take a deep breath, ask for a hug, or distract him or herself with a favorite activity.
Please send your child to school ready to share, or demonstrate how s/he finds comfort and calm. Maybe another child finds reassurance in the same way, so feelings are validated and relationships are strengthened in this EQ opportunity.
Monday & Tuesday, October 2nd & 3rd
These two days are devoted to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” as we practice what to do in case of fire. We’ll talk about firefighters and firetrucks, and have a fire drill at school, too! We invited a local firetruck to stop by for a visit on Tuesday, October 3rd so we can meet a few of our local heroes.
Our October Theme:
Autumn in Abundance!
Autumn brings changes, and new energy to explore our world and to express what it means to us. Fall harvest yields vegetables, fruits and grains from the garden, and farmers prepare for their animals to survive the winter. How do we grind the wheat to make flour for bread? How do we feed the cows when the ground is going to be frozen or covered with snow?
Trees turn colorful and drop leaves, nuts and cones which are all used by wintering animals. Our artwork takes on the seasonal hues and inspiration. As the days get shorter and darker, story-telling entertains and enlightens us.
